The gothic subculture is relatively well-known, thanks to such fads spurred on by Nine Inch Nails and Hot Topic, but I was surprised by my peers' lack of knowledge concerning the raver subculture. A raver is defined by UrbanDictionary.com as "A believer in the PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect); a person who attends raves,"underground part[ies] featuring a distinctive style of music, dress, dance and visual effects." Pinki is a candy raver, "an attendant of electronic music events who typically wears brightly-colored beads, variously-themed costumes, and childhood paraphernalia such as pacifiers, stuffed animal backpacks, etc. Also named such for their usually positive attitude and worldview." Unfortunately, candy ravers are also reknown as the particular sub-sub-culture of ravers who use and abuse the drug ecstasy, "e", or MDMA, "a party drug used by some who attend raves, clubs, concerts, spiritual sessions, etc. MDMA is not very physically addicting, however it depletes seritonin at a rapid rate which causes the high... [and produces] strong feelings of comfort, empathy, and connection to others. It most frequently comes in tablet form." Pinki does not use any drugs. So there's a little bit of background to the candy raver culture which Pinki is a part of, and in Goth Camp, apart from. Lazy Weekend. Melissa and I layed around this entire weekend. All was good. We need more weekends like this. Fear not. The comic is already up so you do not have to worry about not recieving your weekly dose of goth humor. We only spent MOST of the weekend lying around and playing Kingdom Hearts. Not all. Anyways, still sick. Hopefully getting better.... yadda yadda. Have not worked on the site at all. Not much to do anymore except put up posts and such.
